Micro Art

Not many people realise that when they are using their mobile phone or typing on their laptop that they could be milimetres away from art. Known as ‘silicon’ or ‘chip art’, these tiny designs can only be seen under a microscope. Very few works will ever be seen, and as such their beauty or interest can be considered a tribute to the human urge to be creative. It reminds me of the very top of stained glass windows in tall European cathedrals; the detail is incredible but it is not for human eyes. For the artist it’s enough just to know it’s there.

If you would like to know more about silicon art, you can read about it here. Below I have put together a selection that I rather like. I hope you enjoy them. These images were sourced from Chipworks.
