La Evolución Silenciosa by Jason de Caires Taylor, artistPosted: April 1, 2011
Those of you who have seen my ‘League Degrees’ proposal might have had work such as La Evolución Silenciosa (The Silent Evolution) in the back of your minds. I guess I must have too, although I have only recently been made aware of this particular piece. This work by Jason de Caires Taylor, which consists of 400 life sized figures 9 metres deep is situated in the waters of Cancun, Mexico in what is known as The Underwater Museum of Modern Art. Having relatively recently acquired my PADI open water due to a dive nut boyfriend, I must say that although coming face to face with a shark is not my idea of a holiday I could certainly be tempted by a bit of underwater culture. Perhaps if I stand still amongst the sculptures the sharks will pass me by!
